Give Your Hard Disk Drive A Cool Make Over

    Give Your Hard Disk Drive A Cool Make Over

Windows's users like me are truly jaded off by those default drive icons provided by 'Windows'. 'Windows' allows changing icons related to a folder or a shortcut only. So here is a simple tweak by which you will be able to replace those monotonous drive-icons with anything, even your very own photograph.

Steps to be followed:

1) Firstly, you need an image/photo in .ico format. Google the icons (images with .ico extension) of your favorite cartoons or characters; if you want to use your own photo then convert it into .ico online.

2) Now suppose you want to change the icon of    your D: drive. Open the D: drive and place your.ico file in it.

3)  Create a new file with 'Notepad' with below mentioned code and name it "autorun.inf" in the same drive. Do make sure that the file-name is "autorun.inf" & not "autorun.inf.txt".

                Code:
                [autorun]
                icon=name.ico

Please note taht name.ico in the second line of the code is the name of your image file (here "Taz.ico"). See the below screenshot.

Your D:drive should  now look like this

4) Now, refresh your D: drive & 'Computer '/' My Computer'.

Note: Many times, 'Windows' need to be restarted to let the changes come into effect.

5) Rejoice the change.
